Is it possible to teach machines ethics, empathy or compassion?
Robots are capable of navigating difficult terrain, assisting people in maintaining social distance protocols, and even dancing in private. Researchers have now found evidence that they may display empathy. Artificial intelligence is now unable to imitate human emotions. Studies suggest that AI might be able to mimic some types of expressiveness, though.
The findings imply that seeing robots treated in a particular way, like WALL-E, causes the same type of brain activity as seeing a person treated in that same way, which may be why we feel empathy for them. The ideas, sensations, and emotions we refer to as "love" are not impersonal, sensory, or hormonal experiences. Artificial intelligence (AI) would not be able to feel real-world love if it were connected to cameras, a microphone, and a screen.
